Your Investment in Yourself

People often think that when there are challenges in their life, they automatically need a therapist and that something is wrong with them. But it is as simple as talking it out with someone first, working out their thoughts and challenges, and a coach can do that.

Let's talk about the difference between a life coach and a therapist. I feel like this is a sensitive topic and it really shouldn't be. In today's world, there are 71,000 certified coaches worldwide and 23,000 in North America. Now, that does not come close to the 198,811 therapists in the US, but the desire and need for coaches are rising daily. People often think that when there are challenges in their life, they automatically need a therapist and that something is wrong with them. But it is as simple as talking it out with someone first, working out their thoughts and challenges, and a coach can do that. A coach is the friendly middleman between a licensed professional. With a coach, you will discover the "why" and the true, and then that will reveal what is needed.

In this blog, we will discuss the difference between a therapist and a life coach...

LIFE COACH:

A life coach is someone who motivates and encourages clients through career and personal challenges. A coach also helps clients make, meet, and exceed goals to attain the life that is truly desired. A coach can:

  • Identify problematic behavior.
  • Work on how to work towards goals.
  • Focus on goals.
  • Empower to achieve goals.
  • Focus on the future.
  • Work with a coach is short-term.
  • Work towards a future.

VS

THERAPIST:

A therapist is someone who is skilled in a particular kind of therapy. They are licensed professionals who specialize in helping their clients cope with various life challenges. A therapist is licensed to:

(Did you have an "AH-HA" moment yet? Both life coaches and therapists help with life challenges and help their clients work through them.)

  • Analyze the past as a tool to understand present behavior.
  • Focus on "why" certain patterns occur.
  • Focus on mental health.
  • Help heal.
  • Get to the deep-rooted past and present.
  • Be time-limited.
  • Make sense of the past.

(Another "AH-HA"... A therapist works with the past to better understand the present, whereas a life coach works with the present to better assist you in your future.)

This was intended to share the difference between the two and that a life coach can help just as much and is just as important as a therapist. The ultimate goal is YOU. To help the past, present, and future YOU. It is okay to ask for help, it is okay to admit that you need someone to talk to, an outsider to listen and give a new perspective, someone who will support you and work with you through any life struggles and challenges.

Whether it's a therapist or a life coach, we've got you.
